A joint venture between Turner Construction and the Weitz Company has reached structural completion on a $445m expansion of Des Moines International Airport in Iowa.

The project will increase the number of gates from 12 to 18, upgrade security checkpoints and baggage handling systems, and will create space for shops and restaurants

Zachary Loy, Turner’s general manager, said: “This expansion project will not only improve the travel experience but also reflect the city’s growth and vibrancy.”

The team began the project in 2023, and is due to complete it in 2026.
