Contractor JRL has secured the shell and core principal contractor role for a £400m mixed-use scheme on Blackfriars Road in South London.
Slovakia-originated London developer JTRE in partnership with South Charities are behind the 21-storey office block and a second smaller 15-storey tower of 64 almshouses with charity hub and community hall.
JRL’s package of works is worth £30m and includes piling, basement box and superstructure delivery.
John Reddington, chairman at JRL, said: “The scheme fits perfectly with our core capabilities of large diameter piling, bulk excavation, basement box construction, slip forming of cores, with design, supply and installation of post tension slabs, along with crane and hoist hire – all being undertaken as the principal contractor.
“We look forward to the successful delivery of this development and forging a long-term business relationship with our new client, JTRE London”.
The taller office building will offer over 200,000 sq ft with restaurant or café at street level
The offices will be net zero carbon in operation and are designed to target WELL Gold Building standards, targetting NABERS 5 to 5.5 rating, as well as Platinum Smart Score and Wired Score.
The almshouses will provide truly affordable residential accommodation with quality amenity space akin to prime London residential developments.
The Charity Hub will offer office space for the voluntary and charity sector at a significantly discounted rent of around 80%.
The acquisition of the long leasehold interest of 220 Blackfriars takes JTRE London’s portfolio to nearly £1bn and continues the company’s rapid growth in the capital in less than five years.
