Gainford Group scales down New Bridge Street scheme to 29 storeys
North east property group Gainford has unveiled its revised plan for a £170m residential and hotel project to transform Newcastle’s skyline.
It plans to redevelop a former Premier Inn site on New Bridge Street, with a 29-storey tower of 185 flats, alongside a separate 150-bedroom hotel, and bars, restaurants, and leisure space.
FaulknerBrowns Architects’ latest proposals were unveiled at the Mipim property show in Cannes.
The scheme has been scaled down from a 37-storey tower project unveiled just before the pandemic.
Gainford Group, which owns prime properties including the Vermont and County Hotels, Aveika and Livello, bought the former Premier Inn building six years ago.
