Peab to rebuild town hall in Sweden

Swedish contractor Peab has won a €21m contract to rebuild and enlarge the town hall in Sweden’s Strängnäs municipality.

The customer is Strängnäs Fastighets AB, the municipality’s property management business.

Peab will rebuild the 11,300-sq-m building and add a 1,020-sq-m extension.

“Our goal is for the town hall to be a modern, accessible and energy-efficient building that reflects our common vision for a sustainable future,” said Strängnäs Fastighets project manager Niklas Nybro.

Municipal director Lars Ekström said the new building would “expand collaboration among the municipal group of companies” in delivering better public services.

Peab said the project would be run as a partnering contract.

Work starts this summer, with the building expected to be ready for occupancy in the autumn of 2026.
