Spain’s Acciona has trialled the use of an autonomous robot at the design layout of a hospital project in Portugal. According to the company, the machine was able to complete its work six times faster than a human.
The HP SitePrint robot was used at the Alentejo Central Hospital in Évora, southern Portugal. Its task was to help in the visualisation of planning data by printing lines and text on the floor.
The robot consists of wheels and a print head. In the trials, it showed it was able to reduce drawing inaccuracies, and helped to prepare the intallation of 25,000 sq m of partition walls.
The €149m, Hospital is 10-storeys tall. It will have 400 beds, 127,000 sq m of green space and a heliport.
It is due to be completed in 2025.
HP’s site printing robot was first launched in the US in 2022 and has since been made available in the UK.
