Aecom, AtkinsRéalis and MottMac make EA mapping and modelling framework

Aecom, AtkinsRéalis, Jacobs, JBA Consulting, Mott MacDonald and a WSP/Binnies JV have secured spaces on the Environment Agency’s (EA) three-year mapping and modelling framework.

The national framework is valued at £52.5m over three years, with the option of an additional year at a value of up to £17.5m.

The six consultants will deliver surveys, mapping, modelling, incident management, hydrological and other professional services. The data and evidence produced by the six will help the EA’s teams make informed investment decisions nationally and locally.

The EA mapping and modelling framework plays a crucial role in addressing national and catchment area mapping and modelling requirements, as well as fulfilling local modelling and mapping needs for non-capital asset management or non-housing purposes. In addition, it supports forecasting and flood risk assessments.

Dr Kat Ibbotson, strategic advisory director at WSP, said: “Due to climate change, we face increased risk of flooding across the country. The [framework] will be fundamental in providing the evidence required to mitigate these risks and inform solutions taken forward.”

Sonya Evans, mapping and modelling framework manager at the EA, said: “The high standard of tender submissions shows the skills and capabilities of the UK industry, and we look forward to working with the successful delivery partners, both nationally and locally.”
