ANYbotics AG today launched Data Navigator, a new asset management platform that it said “empowers businesses to harness the full potential of inspection data.” Data Navigator takes data collected by ANYmal quadruped robots to provide a comprehensive view of asset health. The company said it turns that data into actionable insights, enabling preventive maintenance strategies.

“Robotic inspection offers maximum value when the resulting data is readily available and actionable to those who need it most: the maintenance and reliability teams responsible for asset management and critical infrastructure,” stated Péter Fankhauser, co-founder and CEO of ANYbotics.

“Data Navigator is the key to unlocking that value, providing seamless access to asset health insights generated by ANYmal robots,” he added. “Data Navigator empowers teams to monitor trends and make informed decisions, optimize maintenance schedules, and ultimately ensure continued plant uptime and the efficiency of operations.”

ANYbotics raised $60 million in December 2024 to accelerate its global scaling and recent expansion in the U.S. and meet growing demand for its industrial inspection robots.

Data Navigator consolidates data for monitoring

Asset integrity is important in industries such as energy, metals, mining, and oil and gas, but visual inspections are time-consuming. ANYbotics said that Data Navigator reconciles and centralizes data gathered from sensors such as thermal, acoustic, visual, and gas readings.

By monitoring trends and setting alarms for out-of-boundary conditions, asset managers can predict potential failures, saving significant time and resources, said the Zurich-based company.

“Data Navigator will allow us to compare historical data, see trends, and get warnings based on anomalies,” said Thorsten Piniek, vice president of health and safety at Outokumpu, a global stainless steel manufacturer. “This will allow us to schedule and prioritize necessary maintenance work before failures occur.”

ANYbotics designs interface for ease of use

Data Navigator’s intuitive interface requires no specialized robotics expertise, ensuring broad accessibility across teams, said ANYbotics.

“Data Navigator is very intuitive and easy to use for everyone,” said Dominik Baumgartend, a maintenance engineer at chemicals company Grace. “Every team — from maintenance to electrical and mechanical — can filter and access the insights they need.”

System offers security, validation out of the box

Data Navigator has flexible deployment options, including cloud and on-premise, including local and air-gapped, or no Internet required. ANYbotics claimed that it can seamlessly integrate with existing IT infrastructure while maintaining robust data security.

“To us, it was important that the data stays on our servers,” noted Patrik D’Allens, head of technical services at fragrance manufacturer DSM-Firmenich. “We installed Data Navigator as an on-premise, air-gapped solution for data privacy, keeping data secure on-site.”

Data Navigator enables rapid validation of ANYmal deployments, providing immediate asset insights from robotic inspection data. The system is ready to use “out of the box” and can integrate with enterprise systems such as those from SAP and IBM when required, said ANYbotics.

ANYbotics lists key Data Navigator features

ANYbotics summarized the key features of Data Navigator and cited successful pilots.

  • Flexible deployment: The product supports diverse infrastructure requirements with a range of flexible deployment options, while ensuring data security, said the company.
  • Intuitive interface: Data Navigator ensures that critical data is accessible to all approved users, regardless of technical expertise, and it requires no specialized training.
  • Ready to go: ANYbotics said it designed the system to give users immediate asset insights and a rapid path to realizing the benefits of using the ANYmal legged robots. The platform can also integrate with enterprise systems as needed.
  • Historical data analysis: Data Navigator provides access to historical data, enabling users to compare and identify trends around asset performance.
  • Improved data access: Data-driven insights can enable more effective maintenance planning and resource allocation, reducing costs and maximizing asset lifespan.
  • Increase operational efficiency: Access to high-frequency, objective, and repeatable data can eliminate guesswork in decision-making, leading to increased operational efficiency, said ANYbotics.

Recent pilot programs with Grace, Outokumpu, and DSM-Firmenich showcased Data Navigator’s capabilities. The platform analyzed over 2,500 ANYmal inspections in two weeks, providing valuable asset health insights.

Both on-premise and cloud deployments were rapid at the three companies, with on-premise integrations becoming operational within hours. Data Navigator’s intuitive design also meant that maintenance teams did not require any specialized training to use it immediately, said ANYbotics.
