BAM Construction northern chief steps down

BAM Construction Northern director John Phillips has retired after a long career with the contractor.

Phillips began his career as a civil engineer, then as a subcontractor’s site agent, before joining BAM in 1989.

He was promoted to North East regional director of BAM Construction nine years ago before being promoted to overall northern director last year when the north west and north east regions were combined in a streamlining exercise.

In the new combined role he oversaw major projects in the region including the firm’s Co-op Live venue project in Manchester.

BAM said that Phillips left with warm wishes after a long and valued career and confirmed it is presently recruiting his replacement.
