Green Register member Barefoot Architects‘ recently finished the largest completed cohousing project in the UK: 53 mixed tenure, low-energy homes, set within car free streets, and topped with PV panels forming a community microgrid powering all-electric homes. This innovative, community-led, affordable housing project has recently been nominated for the prestigious RIBA South West & Wessex awards, one of thirteen projects shortlisted.
You can learn more about this scheme on our upcoming event: Pioneering Carbon Net Zero, Community-Led Co-Housing for Bridport Community Land Trust, on 13th March. Sam Goss, the founding director of Barefoot Architects, will describe how the co-design process with residents led to higher ambitions, better standards, and radical approaches to food production, car parking and sharing of resources within a cohousing model.
