Bid race for £1.5bn Scottish affordable homes framework

Scotland Excel has started the race to renew its largest-ever framework for councils to use for new build residential construction services.

Around 19 suppliers, including 13 SMEs, face a fight to renew their places on the £1.5bn framework that was first developed five years ago to help accelerate the delivery of 50,000 new affordable homes.

While most schemes under this build framework will comprise properties for social rent, councils may utilise the framework for other tenure, mixed tenure and other schemes such as care homes and student accommodation.

Lotting structure

Development of 1-16 units – Build Only (£3m)
Development of 1-16 units – Design and build (£6m)
Development of 17-35 units (£37.5m)
Development of 36-80 units (£48m)
Development of 81 units and over (£57m)

Firms have until 13 May to submit applications for the framework which will run for two years with an option to extend for a further two years.
