Bid race for £23m Rugby road to unlock 5,000 homes plan

Homes England has started the hunt for a civils contractor to deliver a road scheme outside of Rugby to pave the way for a new community of 5,000 homes.

The housing agency aims to shortlist five firms to bid for the Homestead Link Road, which will consist of a 2km long all-traffic single carriageway connecting the A426 (Rugby Road) with the B4429 (Coventry Road).

The road is required to unlock the South West Rugby development, set to deliver 5,000 new homes, primary and secondary schools, a new neighbourhood centre, 35 hectares of employment land and green infrastructure.

Applications need to be submitted by 27 September with the contract start date set for July next year.
