Last year, Boston Dynamics made waves in the robotics industry by retiring its hydraulic Atlas and announcing its new, electric Atlas. Now, the company will be giving an inside look at its robot at the Robotics Summit & Expo.
While the new version doesn’t have the power for parkour, it’s already shown off its ability to do pushups, handle automotive struts, and more. In an increasingly crowded humanoid robot market, the company brings years of development experience that its competition will struggle to match.
Aaron Saunders, chief technology officer at Boston Dynamics, will give attendees at the Robotics Summit & Expo an inside look at how the company redesigned Atlas from the ground up. His keynote, titled “Redesigning Atlas: Boston Dynamics on the Future of Humanoids,” will take place Wednesday, April 30, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. ET at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
During his keynote, Saunders will discuss the new, electric Atlas humanoid and share insights from being at the forefront of humanoid development for years. He will also explore the challenges and opportunities of building humanoids for real-world applications, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how Boston Dynamics continues to innovate and push the limit of robotics.
Saunders is a dedicated expert in innovative robot development. With over 20 years at Boston Dynamics, he has held key roles, including vice president of engineering.
Saunders leads multidisciplinary teams to set the company’s technological vision and align research and development with business needs. He holds a master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Victoria and a bachelor’s from the University of Alberta.

Taking place on April 30 and May 1, the 2025 Robotics Summit & Expo will together the brightest minds in robotics to share their experiences and expertise. Our conference programming will provide professionals with the information they need to successfully develop the next generation of commercial robots.
The show will have more than 50 sessions in tracks on artificial intelligence, design and development, enabling technologies, healthcare, and logistics. The Engineering Theater on the show floor will also feature presentations by industry experts.
The expo hall at the 2025 Robotics Summit will have more than 200 exhibitors showcasing the latest enabling technologies, products, and services that can help robotics engineers throughout their development journeys.
The Robotics Summit also offers numerous networking opportunities, a Career Fair, a robotics development challenge, the RBR50 Robotics Innovation Awards Gala, and much more.
Co-located with the event is DeviceTalks Boston, the premier event for medical technology professionals, currently in its tenth year. Both events attract engineering and business professionals from a broad range of healthcare and medical technology backgrounds.
The 2025 Robotics Summit is also co-located with the Advanced Automation Forum. It focuses on helping manufacturers achieve digital transformation through collaboration with systems integrators, technology suppliers, and end users. Registration is now open.
