Cimic to renovate Singapore’s second largest waterworks for $107m

Cimic subsidiary Leighton Asia has won a US$107m contract to upgrade the Choa Chu Kang Waterworks, the second largest in Singapore.

Cimic’s roles include civil, mechanical and electrical engineering, the installation of instrumentation, control and automation works, as well as the commissioning of the reconstructed plant.

Choa Chu Kang Waterworks is operated by the National Water Agency and has a daily treatment capacity of 80 million gallons.

Juan Santamaria, Cimic’s executive chairman, said: “Implementing the latest water treatment technology and smart capabilities at Choa Chu Kang Waterworks will improve operation of the facility.

“We are pleased that our capabilities in modernising water treatment infrastructure will help to meet the water needs of Singapore’s growing population.”

Work is due to begin before the end of June and will be completed by 2028.
