CITB awards £2.5m of contracts to management consultant

Industry training body CITB has awarded contracts worth £2.5m in the last year to a firm to provide “project leadership and management consultancy”.

The contracts awarded to Matt Hamnett & Associates Limited (MH&A) include a £1.4m deal for Scotland to “deliver project leadership and management consultancy in Scotland and deliver the transformation programme agreed with CITB.”

A similar £554,000 deal has been signed with MH&A in England alongside a £427,000 contract “to support CITB in ongoing conversations with the Education and Skills Funding Agency.”

On its website MH&A, which has been in business since 2018, states: “We’ve built a team of genuine experts in their field – who can provide our clients with insightful, progressive advice and hands-on support.

“A team which includes seasoned, senior leaders who know how to get things done at pace in sophisticated operating environments.

“A team which empathises with our clients’ purpose and context – and which genuinely wants to make a difference.”

A spokesperson from CITB said: “We are committed to transforming the National Construction College’s skills and training provision in England and Scotland to ensure it benefits the construction industry.

“Using a public procurement framework, we engaged education and skills consultancy MH&A to support us in this important work.

“These contracts cover advice, guidance, and support, including the provision of temporary resources while we recruit to vacant roles, and assistance in selecting and implementing a new Learner Management System. MH&A has also supported our work with the ESFA relating to the audit of prior year’s activity.”

CITB also awarded a £500,000 public relations contract earlier this year to City of London based PR agency Cavendish Consulting to “support brand/communications strategy, planning and delivery, media relations: press office (proactive & reactive), journalist liaison and crisis communications support.”

The CITB is also currently out to tender for a £490,000 deal for a company to carry out four rounds of telephone research.

The spokesperson said: “Through a standard public procurement process, we are currently seeking a partner to carry out a series of annual and quarterly telephone research projects with construction contracting and building professional services firms over the next four years.

“This reflects our ongoing efforts to listen to industry views to ensure we deliver value for construction employers and their employees.”
