Family confirm death of Des O’Rourke

Laing O’Rourke Deputy Chair Des O’Rourke has died aged 75.

The O’Rourke family confirmed his passing in a short statement on Wednesday.

The family statement said: “It is with deep sadness that Des O’Rourke’s family confirm his passing earlier today.

“Des had been ill for a short period, and he passed away surrounded by his immediate and extended family.

“The O’Rourke family now asks for privacy at this time to allow us to come to terms with this loss.

“May Des rest in peace.”

Des O’Rourke was a shareholder and co-founding director of the Laing O’Rourke Group with his brother Ray.

Des was known for his project delivery skills mobilising large teams of people onto complex projects around the world.
