Fire stopping specialist FSi Promat has launched Stopseal® Linear Joint Seal (LJS), a dry-fit, fast to install, fire resistant product which provides a high-performance volume expansion and pressure seal

Stopseal® LJS is designed to reinstate the fire resistance of wall and floor constructions in linear gaps, and is tested to EN1366-4 : 2021 (Fire resistance tests for service installations – Part 4: Linear joint seals) Stopseal® LJS has replaced Stopseal® Linear Gap Seal (LGS), which was discontinued in August of last year.

Available in one metre strips and in five thicknesses, Stopseal® LJS can be used to protect joint widths from 10mm to 100mm, and all sizes of Stopseal® LJS have been fire tested in both floor and wall orientations.

Fire testing

As part of the series of fire tests, product manufacture at FSi Promat’s UK factory was witnessed by representatives from UL, and samples sent to UKAS accredited labs for fire testing. This rigorous third-party oversight provides confidence when specifying Stopseal® LJS that the product will perform as designed in the event of a fire. In both walls and floors Stopseal® LJSprovides up to E240 and EI120.

Stopseal® LJS is a dry fit solution made up of layers of intumescent material and acoustic foam. During fitting the strips are compressed to fit into the joint gap and will then expand to protect and insulate space left between walls and floors to contain the spread of fire for a set period of time.

David Roulstone, national commercial and marketing manager at FSi Promat, said: “It is vital that any product used in life safety is backed by transparent test evidence, and is sampled and tested under third party supervision.

“All sizes of Stopseal® LJS have been directly tested for both rigid floors and walls to EN1366-4 : 2021 and are manufactured by FSi Promat in the UK under factory controlled conditions, which are subject to regular FPC audits to ensure traceability in our supply chain and processes. Taken together specifiers and installers can be sure that Stopseal® LJS will perform as tested should a fire break out.

“As well as being backed by comprehensive testing, Stopseal® LJS is a dry, friction fitted product that is easy to cut to fit in order to allow for quick and straight forward installation.”
