nima seeks vice-chairs for volunteers, upskilling and change

nima is seeking expressions of interest from people who could become new vice-chairs of the organisation.

Specifically, nima wants three new vice-chairs to help identify and coordinate its volunteers, another to lead its upskilling and education activities, plus someone to focus on stakeholder engagement and change management.

nima chair Dr Anne Kemp OBE said: “Volunteers have been, and continue to be, the lifeblood of nima. We couldn’t survive without them. Our challenge is being able to identify, mobilise and look after our volunteers so everyone works in the way that suits them best, delivers what is needed – and enjoys being associated with nima. The current group of vice-chairs understand this need, but it just doesn’t have enough bandwidth to do this in the way we would like.”

The vice-chair for volunteers role will require a minimum one day a week and the duties include:

  • identification of volunteers;
  • identification of activities assigned to the volunteer and the vice-chair they will work with;
  • planning of activities to support the volunteers and help them feel valued;
  • liaising with vice-chairs on volunteer mobilisation, engagement and motivation
  • volunteer performance monitoring and review, and
  • volunteer reward and celebration.

Upskilling and education

The vice-chair for upskilling and education is a key role. Kemp said: “Upskilling and education is a cornerstone of nima’s strategy, but we lack the capacity to drive this forward with our existing resource. Again, this will be a demanding role which would realistically require one day minimum per week.”

Duties include:

  • analysis of what is required to address the skills shortfall that exists across the
    industry, and what is currently available;
  • engagement of key stakeholders in the upskilling and education space;
  • scoping and prioritisation of projects to address the skills shortfall; and
  • overseeing and managing the projects in collaboration with the vice-chair for programme management.

Engagement and change management

The vice-chair for stakeholder engagement and change management will help to drive forward the Information Management Initiative. “We are seeking an individual who has expertise in change management and demonstrates good understanding of the key challenges: what prevents change and what can motivate change across the industry. This demanding role will realistically require one day minimum per week,” said Dr Kemp.

Duties include:

  • stakeholder analysis/mapping;
  • change management research and strategy;
  • planning, implementing and measuring sustainable change management; and
  • regular liaison with the vice chair for communications.

The deadline for expressions of interest is midnight on Friday 4 April. Interviews will follow later that month with the intention to appoint the new vice-chairs by mid-May.
