Work to start next month on Trowbridge swimming pool and gym
The UK arm of Dutch contractor Pellikaan Group has secured the job to deliver a £25m leisure centre in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
Pellikaan is expected to breakground new month on the project, which includes a six-lane 25m swimming pool, a learner pool and a gym with 120 exercise studios.
Roberts Limbrick Architects has led the design process for the project, with a strong industrial look to reflect the heritage of Trowbridge.
To make the leisure centre as sustainable and energy efficient as possible the roof is being designed with solar panels and air sourced heat pumps will be installed.
In conjunction with the leisure centre project, the council is also planning to refurbish the Longfield Gyratory and traffic signals to support connectivity in this busy area of the town.
This work, which will involve resurfacing, better street lighting and signalling access arrangements, is expected to get underway in the Summer.
