Plans go in for “new destination” in Reading

PLANS for an 11-storey build-to-rent development of 576 apartments in Reading have been submitted to create a ‘new destination’ for the town.

The application by developers Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates is for the redevelopment and transformation of Napier Court in Napier Road.

Plans include the demolition of three existing office buildings and the construction of new 11-storey buildings featuring studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

Ralph Jones of Peveril Securities said: “The project team has worked hard to ensure the scheme represents a truly sustainable development that enhances the surrounding area and provides much needed new homes.

“We have been keen to ensure plenty of space for residents’ bicycles and visitors. The site is well connected to central Reading, offering the ability for residents to walk into Central Reading for shopping, work or leisure.

“We have worked closely with our architects to design the development with sustainability and with the theme of Reading’s local buildings in mind. Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates have included 30% affordable units peppered throughout the scheme.”

If planning is approved, the scheme will start on site next year with completion in 2027.

Sladen Estates is a commercial property development company specialising in industrial and commercial development throughout the UK. Peveril Securities is the property division of Bowmer + Kirkland.
