Road Sweeper Hire specialist Go Plant went into administration owing its supply chain £4.3m.
The firm’s debts are detailed in an update from administrator Alvarez & Marsal filed at Companies House.
Administrators took charge of the firm in May and sold parts of the business for £2m to waste management contract Sweeptech in a pre-pack deal.
Go Plant had 330 employees when it went under with 116 jobs saved by Sweeptech.
The majority of redundant staff are now pursuing a claim for the failure of the company to undertake consultation or give them any warning that they were about to be dismissed.
Legal experts at Nualaw are coordinating the claims which could be worth up to £5,600 for each affected worker.
The administrator’s report also outlines the reasons behind the demise of Go Plant.
One of the main factors was the death of an employee in late 2023 which led to a number of safety upgrades.
The report stated: “Whilst able to continue to operate, the additional compliance and remediation requirements added to the cost base and impacted operational efficiency.”
