Scottish Water has opened a search for a partner for an £800m investment programme to deliver Ceramic Membrane plants
The Ceramic Membrane Capital Investment programme will run from 2025 to March 2033, and there will be an opportunity to extend for another year.
Scottish Water are searching for a range of supplier capabilities for the programme, including ceramic membrane, MEICA, and civil construction product suppliers.
The chosen partner will be responsible for construction as well as supply
Scottish Water’s partner will be required to demonstrate capabilities in all areas, or demonstrate “how they will acquire these skillsets.”
The partner will then need to act as principal contractor and designer in the programme.
Scottish Water’s investment programme will be split into two phases:
Phase 1: construction, commissioning and hand-over of Turriff Ceramic Membrane Water Treatment Works.
Phase 2 onwards: (Subject to successful bidding in Scottish Waters SR27 Supply Chain Procurement) the framework’s design, delivery and commercial commitments would then transfer into the SR27 supply chain.
Ceramic membrane technology was first deployed at Bonnycraig
The Water Treatment Works at Peebles in the Scottish Borders is where Scottish Water first installed ceramic membrane technology in 2022.
Amey was the principal contractor and RSE design consultant, while PWNT developed the treatment systems.
Now, with the success of that technology, phase 1 of the investment programme will oversee the construction and commissioning of Turriff Ceramic Membrane Water Treatment Works in Aberdeenshire.
The chosen partner will be required to comply with the use of the mandatory specialist frameworks including Infrastructure, Kits, Civils Materials and Hires.
