Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) has awarded a US$305m contract to a consortium of Siemens Mobility and Concord Corporation for the power supply system for the city state’s eighth transit system, the driverless Cross Island Line.
The scope of work includes electrification, overhead catenary rigid power supply, and signalling systems.
It’s the third order for Siemens Mobility on the new line.
Siemens said its work would “connect the physical rail infrastructure with the digital world”.
It added that condition monitoring and fault isolation systems would help manage the line’s performance.
The LTA has also awarded the ninth and final civil contract for the new line’s phase 2.
Sinohydro will design and build tunnels between Maju and Clementi stations for approximately US$152m.
It previously built Pasir Ris East station for the new line, and is now building Clementi station in a joint venture.
Phase 2 of the Cross Island Line is due for completion in 2032.
