Strabag chosen to replace autobahn viaduct in German state of Hessen

Austrian contractor Strabag is to replace the 900m-long Uttrichshausen viaduct, part of the A7 motorway in the central German state of Hessen.

The company has not specified an exact contract value but says it is worth something in the “low three-digit-million range”.

The bridge will be formed of two component structure, mirroring the existing viaduct. It will be equipped with 5m-high noise barriers and a noise-reducing road surface.

Strabag’s scope of work includes the dismantling of two 880m-long and 30m-wide structures.

Klemens Haselsteiner, Strabag’s chief executive, said: “Building modern bridges is essential for the development of our infrastructure. We are therefore proud to be able to apply our expertise to this important supra-regional transport axis on the A7 motorway.”

Construction on the project could begin in August 2024 and is due to be completed in 2029.
