Skanska’s all-electric 105 Victoria Street development in central London is seeing the first UK use of Schindler’s Robotic Installation System for Elevators (Schindler RISE)
The project sees the UK debut of one of only five Robotic Installation System for Elevators (Schindler RISE), a self-climbing robot designed to manoeuvre itself within a lift shaft to install elevator components.
Schindler RISE can drill holes and install anchor bolts with precision and speed, transferring the dangerous and monotonous task from the human workforce to an automated process, which can work around the clock. Instead, a human operator monitors the robot’s movements with a remote-control panel.
The 105 Victoria Street development is the UK’s largest fully electric, net-zero carbon office development. Developed by real estate investment manager BGO and main contractor Skanska, work is due to complete in 2026.
Skanska are embracing new technologies

Additionally, using this robot enhances safety during the elevator installation and minimises exposure to noisy, dusty environments, making our work sites a better place to be.”
Stuart Cross, managing director of Schindler UK & Ireland, added: “Innovation and sustainability are at the heart of this new high-rise in London, so it makes sense for 105 Victoria Street to be the first in the UK to appoint Schindler RISE. We’ve seen the advances in quality, speed and safety that the robots bring to projects around the world and as automation becomes a bigger part of the construction process, it makes sense to utilise it at a building’s core.”

Schindler’s RISE robotics have already been successfully deployed in projects across Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore.
